Infos
Neil James Young was born (17 February 1944) in Fallowfield, Manchester. Young signed for Manchester City as an apprentice in 1959, turning down the opportunity to join Manchester United. After breaking into the team in the season 1961-62, he made more than 400 appearances with 108 goals in more than 12 years at Maine Road. A wonderfully elegant attacking winger, armed with a gifted left foot and an eagle eye for goal, Young’s impact and influence on City’s golden period of the late 1960 and early 1970s cannot be overstated. Young is a more direct forward comparing to his partners in the frontline - Francis Lee, rarely deals with the ball for more than three touches, sometimes he dribbles through defenders or even goalies, but usually shoots at the 1st touch. Despite not really fast, he has decent techniques that help him to create enough an angle for a hard shot. Beside his shooting ability, he can also create chances for his teammates by through passes or some tight crosses.
