Jorge "El Grillo" Roldán was the Guatemala’s most iconic midfielder, spending nearly his entire career at Aurora Fútbol Club, in 1958–1972. Known for his intelligence, technical skill, and leadership, where he was considered by the IFFHS as the 3rd. best player in Guatemala's history of XX century.
He captained Guatemala to its 1967 CONCACAF Championship victory, their first and single trophy in Guatemala's national team history, and being the surprising national team at the 1968 Olympics, scoring against Thailand in the 4-1 victory for Guatemala, and being sent-off in the quarter-finals against the next gold medallist, Hungary.
With clubs, he led Aurora Fútbol Club of Guatemala to three league titles, in 1964, 1966, 1967–68, three Cup titles, in 1958, 1967-68 and 1968-1969, the National Champions Cup in 1968, and getting in an international final in 1972 against Deportivo Saprissa of Costa Rica, losing the final 2-1 in the series, where he scored in a penalty kick in the 1st. leg, and remains their all-time top scorer of Aurora's team with 111 goals in 380 matches despite being a midfielder. His brief stint at Spain’s Hércules CF (1972) made him Guatemala’s first professional export since Federico Revuelto for Real Madrid team in 1902.
