Nian Weisi was an inside-left, left winger or centre forward, capable of playing as wing half. His career began in 1951 at North China, he then transferred to Central Sport Institute in 1954. The following year, he joined Beijing, where he remained until his retirement in 1960. He capped for China 22 times, scoring 12 times, taking part to the 1957 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
One of the best Chinese footballers in the 1950s, Nian Weisi was a tough and brave player. He was skilled in ball control and had a wide range of activities. He was an all-rounder in attack and defense.
