He was one of the exceptional forwards of the forties and fifties, leaving his mark on Sport Boys, with whom he was champion in the year of his debut (1942) and also in 1951, upon returning from his successful time in Colombian soccer, when The pinks became the first professional champion of our soccer. He formed a legendary duo with Valeriano López, with whom he met again in Alianza Lima. With the blue and whites, 'Willy' won two other titles, in 1954 and 1955. Because of his speed, in Colombian football he was baptized as the 'Bicycle Man'. He was the father of fellow player Gerónimo 'Patrulla' Barbadillo.
