Born in the city of Mendoza (19/11/1981), his beginnings in youth football were at Deportivo Algarrobal de Las Heras, and he made his professional debut at the age of 19 for Independiente Rivadavia in 2000. In the first part of his career he played for Atlético Rafaela, Racing Club, Estudiantes de La Plata, Newell's Old Boys, and Olimpo, but the crowning moment of his career would come at C.A. Huracán. The following year, Araujo joined the ranks of AEK Athens, and after an entire season as a starter in Greece, he would arrive at C.A. Lanús, where he would also make history.
