INFO:
Rodolfo Zimmermann was an Argentinian footballer who played as a center-back and as a defensive midfielder. Born in Barranqueras, Chaco (13/06/1951), he began his sporting career in Peñarol de Rafaela at the age of 16, demonstrating great abilities for the game from a very young age. Zimmermann would arrive in Colón de Santa Fe in 1971 and would have his professional debut on the eighth round of the Campeonato Metropolitano against Central Córdoba (SdE). He played that game as a defensive midfielder. Zimmermann was part of some of the most memorable teams in the history of the Santa Fe club, sharing a squad with several stars of the institution, although his name remained engraved in the memory of the fans of the red and black club due to his dedication and versatility on the field: between 1971 and 1978 "el Chaqueño" would play 239 games and score 7 goals, being the eighth player with the most appearances in the club's history. In 1979 he would get the opportunity to play for the Argentine giant C.A. Independiente. His arrival was confirmed by another sabalero glory, José Pastoriza, at that time coach of Independiente, who needed a replacement for Enzo Trossero, and it was the name of Rodolfo Zimmermann that was recommended to him by two other ex-Colón who played for Independiente at that time, Hugo Villaverde and Héctor Baley. With the Red Devils he experienced great glories, as he became Libertadores champion and World Champion in 1984. His career continued with a short-lived stint at C.A. Huracán and a year and a half in Bolivia's Blooming, which he helped qualify for Libertadores. His last years as a professional were played in lower league teams, such as Ferro, from Gral. Pico, and 9 de Julio and Ben Hur of his almost-native Rafaela.

Zimmermann was what was considered a glue-player. He was part of what was the best defense in Colón's history in Fernández-Trossero-Zimmermann-Araos and also one of the best midfields in the club's history in Mazo-Zimmermann-Álvarez.
He was characterized by his determination on the pitch: he could play equally well as a central defender and as a defensive midfielder; he had a lot of patience for a defensive player, he knew how to wait for the opposing forward and he was not at all a violent player when making a tackle. During his years at Independiente, he knew how to play as a right back, although in Colón he never did so since the right side belonged to the legend Araos. In addition, he had great physical endurance: during his 7 seasons in C.A. Colón, he played in almost all the games the team played without ever suffering an injury.
