Defence-MindedINFO:Fabricio Fontanini is an Argentine former footballer who played as a central defender. Born in Rafaela, Santa Fe (03/30/1990), he began his professional career in 2007 with his hometown club, Atlético Rafaela, during the 2007/08 Primera B Nacional season. Fontanini came close to achieving promotion in the 2008/09 and 2009/10 seasons, losing the promotion playoff both times to Gimnasia y Esgrima. However, in the 2010/11 season, Rafaela achieved direct promotion to the Primera División. After a successful loan spell at Quilmes A.C., Fontanini was sold to C.A. San Lorenzo for 5 million pesos in 2013, having played over 100 matches for Atlético Rafaela. At San Lorenzo, Fontanini played a total of 32 matches over his 3-year contract. He is notably remembered for starting in the first leg of the 2014 Copa Libertadores final against Club Nacional of Paraguay. Later, Fontanini played for Vicenza Calcio, O'Higgins, Newell's Old Boys, Ñublense, Aucas, and finally retired in 2023 at his first club, Atlético Rafaela.
