INFO:
Marcelo Saralegui is a former footballer who played as an advanced midfielder and as a side midfielder. Born in Montevideo, Uruguay (18/05/1971), he started his pro career at Club Nacional in 1989, at the age of 18. In 1990 he was loaned to Atlético de Madrid, although he returned after six months. Upon his return to the Uruguayan club, he began to gain many minutes, establishing himself as an important player on the team. In 1992 he was sold to Torino in Italy, although he was not able to play many games in the granata squad. In 1994 he arrived in Argentina to play for Racing Club, where he put together very good performances. A year later, he was sold to the recently promoted Colón de Santa Fe: there, Saralegui displayed the best football of his career, establishing himself as one of the best number 8 of that time in Argentina and taking the Santa Fe club to its first participation in the Copa Libertadores, finishing in the quarterfinals, and a runner-up in the Primera División. After leaving Colón in 1998, Saralegui would continue his career at Independiente, and return to Uruguay to play for Defensor Sporting, Club Nacional, Fénix, and Uruguay Montevideo, where he would finally retire from professional activity in 2004 at the age of 33. He was international with the Uruguayan national football team between 1992 and 1997, playing 33 games and scoring 6 goals. He played in 3 Copa América for la celeste, in 1993, 1995, and 1997, winning the 1995 Copa América held in Uruguay.

Stats pumped like a cannon, how can you put an attack of 80 on this trash, technically he was also decent but in Italy it was seen. Classic strong player at home, but in football that counts it is a small thing. A player with green statistics to be clear

I don't know whether this set makes him too good, but the fact he was bad in Italy doesn't mean he was bad somewhere else. In your opinion, does a player deserve only green stats who has 33 caps and 6 goals for Uruguay, who won the 1995 Copa América and scored a decisive goal in the last group match against Mexico? Then, in support of your statement, he has CONS 4 for a reason, I guess. But also, this set doesn't cover his time at Torino, where he was only 20-21 years old, by the way.

I analyzed this player and he was technically quite good, but really nothing more. He deserves the overall 74-76 because that was his value. It remains inconceivable to assign the attack 80, if anything 80 technique could be there as an absolute value!

Yeah, because Serie A was the only strong league back in the day...
You analyse him in Torino, but you watches game of him in Uruguay or Colon?
Btw, Argentinian Primera Division back in the day was pretty strong, River, Velez and Boca win 4 Libertadores in a 7 year streetch.

Look at this moment in my life I'm doing a crazy job creating a database updated to 1998/99, informing myself player by player, without leaving anything to chance, evaluating career, goals, assists, looking for information, it was really nothing special, I repeat, in any case to name an underrated player in the Argentine championship we can say "Julio Cesar Toresani", he really deserved it and nobody knows him

While I do agree that some of the values were above their true level (after all, these were my first sets, and despite having updated them countless times over time, one always fears overvaluing or undervaluing them because they're one's team), I believe that your analysis is flawed in some aspects.

As my colleague says, the fact that he was a flop in Italy doesn't mean he was a bad player elsewhere: immediately after leaving Torino, he had the best season of his career in terms of stats at Racing Club, and subsequently, he displayed exquisite football at Colón de Santa Fe during the four years he remained at the club. He was the visible face and the best player of the club's best era (until the championship won in 2021). A Uruguayan international for more than six years, he participated in three Copa Américas: otherwise, why would a team of the caliber of Uruguay afford to call up such a failed player so many times?

Toresani was also a great player. I have a lot of respect for him: despite having played for Unión, he was a Colón fan and spent much of his life linked to us. I was deeply saddened to learn of his sad end. He was a great midfielder, very dedicated, but not as skilled technically: he was a "mini" version of Héctor Enrique, all things considered. He shared the pitch with Saralegui in the 1995/96 season and then went to Boca Juniors. I still maintain that Saralegui was a better player than Toresani, although the two were vastly different.

I reviewed some footage from that era and updated the player. Don't be fooled by his poor performances in Italy: I invite you to review the player's full matches to see why I included these stats. Regarding his inconsistent performances, this is why the player has low MEN and CONS values.

Have a nice day.
