INFO:
Teófilo Gutiérrez is a Colombian footballer who plays as a striker. Born in Barranquilla, Atlántico (17/05/1985), he made his professional debut in the Colombian second division with Barranquilla F.C., where he quickly became one of its stars and would establish an important breeding ground alongside players who would later accompany him in the National Team, like Carlos Bacca. After his good performance in the Junior de Barranquilla reserve team, he was promoted to the first team. In his early seasons as a player, he couldn't stand out much but still managed to score several goals. In the first semester of 2009, Gutiérrez was the top scorer for Junior and the league with 16 goals. In 2009, he established himself as an undisputed starter, playing 44 matches and scoring 30 goals that year, matching the performance (according to IFFHS) of players like Samuel Eto'o or Diego Forlán, in terms of the number of goals. In 2010, Teo had his first experience abroad, joining Trabzonspor in the Turkish Süper Lig, where after a slow start, he dazzled with key performances, such as in the Turkish Cup final, where he scored a hat-trick to secure the title for Trabzon. However, suddenly and without prior notice to his club, Gutiérrez returned to Barranquilla, citing health issues. In 2011, he was acquired for $3.0M by Racing Club in Argentina, where he would become the top scorer of the 2011 Clausura Tournament. However, his constant disputes with teammates, the press, and executives would eventually see him transferred to C.A. Lanús. In 2012, he joined Cruz Azul in Mexico, coinciding with his return to the Colombian National Team, and the following year, after good performances, he moved to River Plate. With the "millionaire" team, he established himself as one of the best forwards on the continent, and his tenure coincided with River Plate's return to international competitions after their relegation to the second division in 2011. In 2014, he won the Copa Sudamericana, being part of the ideal team, and was also awarded South American Footballer of the Year, sharing the podium with three other River Plate players, Carlos Sánchez, and Leonardo Pisculichi (the first time the King of America podium was shared by three players from the same team). Teo, the following year, also won the Copa Libertadores, the club's third in history, and also played an important role in the team, so for the 2015-16 season, he was sold to Sporting Clube de Portugal for €3.4M. After his stint in Portugal, Teo played for Rosario Central in Argentina and returned to Junior de Barranquilla, the club where he is considered one of the greatest idols. He played 5 more seasons at Junior, helping them secure 5 titles in the most fruitful period in the club's history, and in 2021, at 36 years old, he was transferred to Deportivo Cali. Currently, at 39 years old, Gutiérrez plays for Real Cartagena in the second division of Colombian football, in what would be his last season as a professional footballer.

Teo has been an international player for the Colombian national team, participating in a World Cup (Brazil 2014), two Copa America tournaments (Argentina 2011 and Chile 2015), three World Cup qualifiers (South Africa 2010, Brazil 2014, and Russia 2018), and the Olympic Games (Rio de Janeiro 2016). Additionally, he is one of the Colombian players with the most titles in history and a major idol for Junior de Barranquilla. While he has achieved numerous footballing accolades, Teo is also remembered for his frequent controversies and red cards received during matches throughout his career (he is the Colombian forward with the most red cards in history). One notable incident occurred during his time at Racing Club around the year 2012. Following an argument where Teo was criticized for "getting himself intentionally sent off", he pulled out a gun from his backpack and aimed it at his teammates, leading to police intervention.
