Anderson is known for his importance in Argentine football, since he was the one who, in some way, founded the Argentina national team; in 1901 with his combined "J. O. Anderson XI Team". A year later in 1902, he helped organize the first official match of the Argentine national team. Beyond this, Anderson was a scorer, although he played for only a few years (common at the time), he achieved an impressive number of 31 goals in 37 games. With a robust physique and great aerial power, he earned respect in those early years of the Argentine tournament, winning 3 Argentine championships with Lomas Athletic.
