His best version was seen in El Porvenir, where he became the institution's second top scorer with 89 goals. There he teamed up with another great footballer of the time, Manuel Seoane, together they performed at an excellent level, which led both of them being called up to the 1925 Copa América, where they led the argentine national team to the title.
As a curiosity, Carlos Gardel, a great football fan, once exclaimed "Who is this Negro that no one can stop?"
