Known as "El Maestro" or simply "El Víctor", Legrotaglie is one of those cult footballers who generate so much myth and legends around him, among the many in the argentine football.
Recognized by his own province as the best Mendoza native in history, El Víctor was a genius, a creative footballer like few others, "a nutmeg machine" according to the magazine El Grafico, as well as a scorer, it was said that his ability to create a game was at the level of Bochini, and that his dribbling was as good as Maradona's. But if something characterized this wonderful player, it was his shoot; 75 goals from free kicks make him one of the top scorers from set pieces, in addition, 12 olympic goals.
Legrotaglie played in different clubs in his province, and never wanted to leave his native Mendoza (once alone, to play in Chacarita), for that reason he rejected Real Madrid and Inter, even the Cosmos of Pelé and Beckenbauer. He faced Pelé's Santos, and the brazilian star recognized his unusual talent.
