Info:

- It was as if they were waiting for him at Tehelné pol. Korostelev left for Italy, and because of his slim and slender build, it was assumed that "Šimi" or "Cverna" would replace him.

- Czech journalist and sports historian Zdeněk Šálek wrote about him in the Slavné nohy encyclopedia: "An unusually fast and technically skilled winger."

- The former left-footed and speedy striker was the Prešov player with the most starts for the national team (15).

- He was one of the unforgettable figures in the stadiums of the Major Leagues. He was fast and possessed incredible technique. He knew how to hold the ball, pass accurately, but also shoot powerfully and, most importantly, surprise. His play was a feast for the eyes of the spectators, especially because he played a clean and good game in every match.

- Behind Gejza Šimanský's football successes lie hard training, sacrifice, and modesty: this is how he was known to those around him, not only in his homeland but also abroad. He lived his entire life with a love of football and followed football events not only in his own country but also around the world. The former national team player, father of two sons and a daughter, was one of those international players who managed to find a demanding profession after his football career ended. Known as "Šimi" to former teammates and friends, the legendary left winger of ŠK Bratislava, the Tankista military team, and Tatran Prešov occupies a place of honor not only in the chronicles of Bratislava, but also in those of Prešov and the national team. He played fifteen matches for the national team and scored seven beautiful goals.

- For me, it was a great pleasure to score goals directly from corners. It wasn't that easy. When it was windy, even in the locker room, I felt like something would fly straight from the corner and end up in the net. My greatest joy was when I managed to do it for Slovan in important matches against Sparta and Slavia. The Košice team also scored a goal directly from a corner in Bratislava, and for Tatran Prešov, I surprised Slavia Prague and Žilina players,” says Gejza Šimanský.

- “He was an excellent football player, one of the best wingers in the years after World War II. He was fast and technically proficient. He is a member of the Liga Gunners club: he scored a total of 106 goals in the Slovak First Football League and the Czechoslovak First Football League.”

- His football career was influenced primarily by four coaches: Emil Biháry, under whose supervision he grew up in the youth team of ŠK Slávia Prešov and who nurtured him for great football. His first coach at ŠK Bratislava was the Scotsman Thomas Sneddon, who developed his strengths, such as shooting and jumping. He even practiced taking the ball with his teammates through short sprints in trainers.
