Introduction for the best player in the XX century in Guatemala for the IFFHS, Óscar "El Conejo" Sánchez was a complete striker, combining technical skills and lethal finishing during his peak with Comunicaciones Futbol Club and the national team, his legacy maintains intact as being the second goalscorer in the history of Guatemala with 311 goals.

Biography: He was born in Escuintla, in the department of the same name, but grew up in Zone 6 of Guatemala City. He became known in 1974 when he played in the Second Division with Laboratorios Jiménez. A year later, Ases del Minar of Tiquisate signed him. He made a name for himself in opposing goals, scoring 24 goals while playing in the second division of the guatemalan football.

In 1976, CSD Comunicaciones signed him, and he formed a close partnership and friendship with Félix McDonald. In his first season with the "Cremas", he and Julio César Anderson, where he played for Municipal, became the top scorer in the National League, although his team finished runner-up.

He would win his first title, the 1977-78 National League championship, and he also achieved the top scorer with a record of 41 goals, something no other player has achieved in a single season to date. He scored six goals in a 9-0 win against Antigua, a historic feat not seen since Chali Méndez of Universidad de San Carlos FC scored the same goals in the 1961-62 Liga Nacional against Retalhuleu.

In the 1979-80 Liga Nacional season, his team won the championship and again led the scoring charts, earning his fourth consecutive maximum goalscorer of the league, tying the record held by Carlos El Pepino Toledo, who had achieved this from 1942 to 1947.

He earned with Comunicaciones being the 2nd. All time goalscorer for the national league with 258 goals, under Juan Carlos "El Pin" Plata, where he scored 311., he scored 41 goals in 1977-78 league season, he scored 6 goals against Antigua GFC in the 9-0 victory in 1978, and he won with Comunicaciones 9 national trophies and 2 international trophies with Comunicaciones, the CONCACAF Champions Cup 1978, and the Centroamerican Clubs Cup in 1983.

With the national team, he made his debut in the 1976 CONCACAF Pre-Olympics, where he scored 3 goals in 6 matches, one against Honduras and Costa Rica, and an incredible olympic goal against Mexico in their victory of Guatemala against Mexico from 3-2. In the World Cup qualifiers, he scored 5 goals, achieving the final round, but Guatemala kept the 5th place, not qualifying to a World Cup once more, and he was the main striker for the Guatemala team for the 1982 World Cup qualifiers, scoring 2 goals, but the team didn't achieved the final round where El Salvador and Honduras (next qualified teams for the 1982 World Cup) advanced to the final round.
