A lightning-fast forward and winger and one of the best Guatemala's players of the late 1970s and early 1980s football, he relied on blazing speed, excellent assister of their teams and precise crosses to torment defenses in CONCACAF and Central American football from that time.
Nicknamed "El Duende" due to his short stature (he stands 1.64 m), he was a talented forward who played primarily on the left side.
He began his professional career at age 17 after being recruited by CSD Comunicaciones and made his debut under coach Rubén Amorín in the 1977 Copa Fraternidad Centroamericana against Saprissa of Costa Rica, scoring two goals. He helped win the 1978 CONCACAF Champions' Cup when he scored a goal against CD Once Municipal in a 3-1 victory in the first leg of the first round of the tournament, and helped the team with an excellent teamwork with the forward Félix McDonald and Óscar Sánchez Rivas to suceed in the Centroamerican Tournament 1978, winning the series agains Municipal and a comeback against Saprissa, after, win the 1978 CONCACAF Champions Cup.
He played for Once Lobos of El Salvador's Primera División in 1982–1983 in loan, where he contributed 5 goals and 7 assist in the season, then he came back to Comunicaciones in 1983, winning the Fraternity Cup 1983 against Aurora Futbol Club.
With Comunicaciones, he won 4 Liga Nacional titles, 1 Copa Nacional and one Campeon de Campeones of Guatemala, and he won the 1978 CONCACAF Champions Cup and the 1983 Copa Fraternidad.
In 1979, he was part of the U-23 team that won the 2nd Central American Union Youth Tournament for the national team of Guatemala. As a member of the senior team, he participated in the 1983 Pan American Games, winning the bronze medal, and then played during the World Cup qualification processes in 1982. He played 35 matches until 1983, having the bronze medal in the 1983 Pan American Games, after losing to the gold medallist, Uruguay 1-2.
