Attack-MindedINFO: A player with a classic style, Tupãzinho marked an era and immortalized himself in the gallery of Palmeiras' greatest players with his 234 games, 139 victories and 122 goals (an average of 0.52 goals per game), being the ninth greatest scorer in Palmeiras' history. One of the many notable events during his time at Palmeiras was the two goals he scored from free kicks against Corinthians in the 1967 Campeonato Paulista. In addition, he was Palmeiras' first top scorer in the Copa Libertadores da América in 1968, scoring 11 goals. Argentine Carlos Billardo, former playmaker for the 1968 champion Estudiantes de La Plata and victorious coach, said that the greatest Brazilian players he ever saw were the black one (Pelé), the blond one (Ademir da Guia) and Tupãzinho, the one with a crooked leg like Garrincha.
