For Corinthians, he scored 32 goals, with an average of 0.04 goals per game. He played a prominent role in the 'Corinthian democracy' movement, being one of those who led the movement within the club. Many consider him the best left-back in the history of Brazilian football. In 1998, he was elected by the São Paulo Football Federation to the all-time selection of the São Paulo Championship, alongside great names such as Pelé, Rivelino, Ademir da Guia and others.
Wladimir was called up for the first time to play for the Brazilian national team in 1977 for the match against Colombia in the qualifiers for the 1978 World Cup. The 0-0 draw was considered embarrassing and, as a result, coach Osvaldo Brandão ended up resigning. Wladimir, who was not to blame for the result, ended up being marked and was never called up for the national team again. In 1978, for example, Cláudio Coutinho preferred to improvise defender Edinho as a left-back, leaving aside a Wladimir who was in excellent form. However, he was called up again by coach Carlos Alberto Parreira for the 1983 Copa América, when he came in second place.
