Ibson was a technical and versatile midfielder, with good vision of the game, ability to infiltrate and constantly arriving at the attack, discovered by Flamengo and known for his intelligent movement, skilled passes and offensive presence from the back; he stood out in his first stint with the Rio de Janeiro club between 2004 and 2007, being a key player in winning the Copa do Brasil and loved by the fans for his identification with the team and decisive performances. At Porto, he maintained a good level of performance, contributing to national titles, but his career alternated between moments of brilliance and instability, because of injuries, such as in his stints at Spartak Moscow, Santos and Corinthians, where he oscillated between being a starter and being criticized. Despite his irregularities, Ibson demonstrated personality, reading the game and good touch on the ball, being a player of recognized talent, mainly for his ability to lead the midfield in favorable phases and for maintaining a loving relationship with the Flamengo fans, where he lived his best moments.
