INFO:Diego Salgado was goalkeeper who was discovered by Flamengo in the early 2000s, with a low-key career and few opportunities in the main team, being better remembered for his constant presence in the reserve bench than for his performances in the starting squad, despite having 183 appearances for the club. With good height, reasonable reflexes and a serious attitude, he was seen as a promising player for the position, but ended up being overshadowed by injuries and the rise of Bruno (his imediate replacement) in the period that he was injuried; and because of that not being able to establish himself when he had the chance.
After leaving Flamengo in early 2010, his career continued at Ceará Clube, Avaí FC and then smaller clubs, without much national recognition. Despite the potential identified in his early years, he lacked the sequence, visibility and notable performances to consolidate his name in the professional scene.
But despite this, Flamengo fans still remember him fondly, as one of the names that helped the club overcome difficult times in the early to mid-2000s.
