I know it's only a set for last season, but his shooting stats are really quite underrated, 78 SA seems harsh considering last season was the first time since 2008-09 he hasn't hit double figures in the league, and considering the sheer amount of absolutely spectacular goals he's scored, he could even get orange ST, especially when someone like Quagliarella is sitting on red.

With all the criticism he's got for not scoring at the World Cup, it's easy to forget he's got 31 goals for France and almost 250 career goals...

I get your point, but is like saying that Cristiano Ronaldo deserves nowadays sonething like FKA 89 just because he netted like 70 on his entire career and many of them at Manchester United and in his early days at Real Madrid.

I really see his SPA and TEC better than this. He isn’t making any deep ground passes but his one touch passes and flicks are pretty much unrivalled in the CF position (only Benzema is up there with him). He adds so much to any team he plays on even if he’s somewhat “limited” by how static he is and his average scoring ability.

That incredible Wilshere goal against Norwich is pretty much a perfect example of what I’m talking about. His vision and touch are excellent, and with any part of the foot. And that certainly hasn’t changed since his time at Arsenal, he’s still just as effective when the team plays to his strengths. If you toss a long ball up the field, he’ll hold onto it and bring the whole team up with him 90% of the time. Combined with the white SPS I don’t see a problem with yellow SPA, and mid yellow TEC (honestly I don’t see him worse than Drogba here, who has 85 but is still to be updated).

Then TW or STA should be reduced in order to represent his static behavior.

STA can definitely go down but TMW is fine because it’ll make him less selfish in game and choose to pass more.

It’s not just his one touch pass. He’s brilliant at retaining the ball no matter the quality of ball that’s fired up to him. Some of that is due to his strength, but it’s not like he really pushes people off the ball, his strength is because he’s a big guy that leans on people, not like someone like Drogba.

Do people here actually watch the Premier League? It feels like so many sets here are based on perceptions from outside England entirely based on international games. People outside England seem to think Giroud is some sort of Burnley/Stoke style lamppost that is just tall and that’s it. While in England (where people actually watch him play every week) his play with his back to goal and technical ability is actually appreciated.

So 82 is a bad number? I think you overestimated some abilities just because they play in a more phisical and tactical league... There are more talented MF with 84 in tech and they were 100% better than Giroud in this aspect...

In the other hand... 78 in SA just because a bad tournament is very harsh... at least 82 for him (I am fully agree with you here)

Of course 82 isn't a bad number. I also think that a lot of CFs have underrated TEC which is one of the most important attributes for a player like Giroud. I mean look at the set, he can't dribble past anyone, and if his touch isn't good then he'll immediately lose the ball because of his terrible pace/agility.

It's not like boosting his TEC would turn him into Van Basten, it would just help him retain possession when he's holding up the ball, which is his main strength in real life (apart from his aerial game), and absolutely fundamental to his playing style. Tight spaces are where he excels, even in a busy box he more often than not finds space to bring the ball down and lay it off to a teammate.

Basically, Giroud is an elite target man, not an elite striker. He's too limited in scope to be properly considered a top CF, but his strong points are so effective that he's carved out a role for himself in a World Cup winning team and was also the player of the tournament in Chelsea's Europa League winning team. He's far above Dugarry and Guivarc'h in effectiveness, for example. Also, I don't really have a problem now with him having 78 SA, I still think ST should be higher though. The majority of his goals are either headers (which is well represented) or volleys that show strong ST, other than that he's not that comfortable shooting with his feet when the ball is on the ground. AGG could maybe be lower too. He almost always plays with his back to goal.

Extended the original set to 2019 and updated with the feedback of Stuart:

ST: 84 => 88
FKA: 66 => 70
