One of the biggest legends in TSV 1860 history whose career and life was ruined by alcohol. Excellent centre forward who was more like inside forward with his tendency to come deep and take part in quick combinations and passes with teammates. Great scorer but also could make very good pass, very fast with powerful shot and good dribbling skills. Robust, nimble, powerful, two-footed, he was gifted technically and wasn't selfish. In the first three years Rudi was one of the superstars of the newly introduced Bundesliga. In 1963 in the last championship before the introduction of the Bundesliga, he also won the South German championship in 1860. Three years later, then handed it to the big throw, he was with the Giesingern German football champions of the season 1965/66. Two years earlier, in the year 1964 Rudi celebrated winning the DFB Cup and the following season he was with the "Sechzigern" in the finals of the European Cup Winners' Cup. There, they lost in London against the local favorite West Ham United 0:2. But even at the height of his career he had a drinking problem. Rudi left after disappointing season and hoofed it until 1980 as a player in the Alpine countries of Switzerland, Austria and Liechtenstein. As the career was finally over, did not go much together in the life of Rudolf. He died in 2003 as impoverished and of lonely alcoholic in his Olchinger 35sqm apartment. The former fan favorite, who left no family, was buried at the expense of his former club TSV 1860 Munich and great public participation at the Munich East Cemetery.
