INFO:Martusciello was a side midfielder, mostly on the left, and central midfielder but sporadically covered many other positions, even in attack and defence. His career began in 1988 at Ischia. After seven years, he left for Empoli. He became one of the heroes who brought Empoli from Serie C1 to Serie A in two seasons. He played a total of 129 matches and scored 13 goals for the
Azzurri until 1999. He then played for several other teams including Genoa, Palermo, Catania and Lucchese. He retired in 2006.
Martusciello was a player of quantity and quality, gifted with personality and determination, even though he wasn't very flamboyant. He was right-footed, could use also the left foot and the outside very well. Initially a midfielder with the task of interdiction, he became a more offensive midfielder. In fact, he was a good passer, effective when building up the play but he was mostly able at finalizing the action thanks to a fine shooting ability. Memorable is the long range goal he scored in a 4-1 win against Sampdoria in the 1997-98 season. His spell at Empoli could've been even better if he didn't have problems of condition that limited his number of appearances during the two years in Serie A.
