Legendary Atletico captain and player with the most appearances for club. Adelardo was midfield dynamo, first as inside forward in old system than central box to box midfielder. The leader who could attack and defend, score and create, pretty endurable player with good technique and shot. He had good pace, solid strength and keen eye for the goal, he could also send a good cross. Sometimes he also scored with headers and he was especially good from volleys and one touch shots. Born in Badajoz on September 26, 1939, was trained as a footballer in the quarry Extremadura, playing in Railway, Betis Extremadura, Badajoz Extremadura, until age 20 when the leap to a big Spanish football. He joined Atletico Madridel September 23, 1959, with Atletico president Javier Barroso. Arrived from Badajoz, Fernando Daucik, Atletico coach, recommended his signing after seeing him play the San Juan de Badajoz Trophy in late June 1959. His official debut was in the first round of the League 59/69 in Las Palmas 0 At.Madrid 3. Adelardo scored the first goal after ten minutes. In the 14 seasons he dressed Atletico, won three league titles, one European Cup Winners Cup against Fiorentina five Cups Spain, to Madrid and Zaragoza twice and the other against Valencia. It also proclaimed the Intercontinental Champion to win the final to Independiente in 1974. The great Adelardo Atleti was part of best ever. A withdrawal went to play futsal in the ranks of the Interviu, where he's been proclaimed champion Spain.
