Henry Carlsson was a Swedish professional footballer who played as a forward. Dainty technician, active, his fast play, his mobility, his fineness allowed him to impose instantaneously and brilliantly himself. Despite his very short size, he was strong player because he trained wrestling, also had great heading abilities and jump. Sometimes looked in a hurry but was extremly quick and clever player, due to his great positioning capability, constant movement and speed, he was easy to find with passes and impossible to mark. Henry had great speed in both legs, tremendous elasticity with electric dribbling. Carlsson had also very precise passing ability which transformed him later in career as midfield playmaker and had excellent understanding with his teammates, especially with wingers. He joined AIK in 1939 and over a decade, he was AIK's leading striker with 97 goals in 192 matches. He had a success in the national team, became Olympic champion in 1948 and then one of Sweden's first professional soccer player, a short time at Stade Francais and then in Atletico Madrid. He was highly instrumental in Atlético two league wins 1950 and 1951 and no Swedish footballers have been greater in "La Liga" than "Carrson" was the beginning of the 1950s. After finishing playing career, Smiley also coach of AIK's A-team in two sojourns (1956-57 and 1965-66). Henry Carlsson died in 1999, aged 82.
