Sune Andersson was one of swedish most skillfull players in history. He possessed outstanding technique and ball control combined with phenomenal passing especially on long distances which regularly broke the defence and led to goals. Sune had great dribbling and powerful shot, his trademark were sharp 30-35 yards free kicks. Lanky player, lacked the pace, but compensated with excellent vision, footwork, tactical awareness and game reading. He also played 28 times for the Swedish national team and was a member of the squad at the 1948 Summer Olympics, winning the gold medal, and at the 1950 FIFA World Cup. He also had a long career as a manager. Sune Andersson bore the nickname “Mona-Lisa”, because of his impenetrable facial expression when playing. In the prime of his career, he played for AIK Solna, captaining the squad from 1948 on. Andersson played from 1934 to Ekerö IK, before moving in 1939 to Hagalund IS. In 1946 he went to AIK Solna, where he was on 1 September in the Allsvenskan in the 0-0 draw at IS Halmia debuted. In 1948 he was team captain and 1949 could celebrate the victory of Svenska Cupen. In 1950 he left the club after four seasons in which he ran aground 82 times and scored 18 goals, and changed how many of his countrymen to Italy. Before becoming a professional player abroad, he worked as a mechanic for a telegraph company and fur traders.From 1950, Andersson played 59 games in Serie A for AS Roma, where he played with his countrymen Stig Sundqvist and Knut Nordahl. Here he scored twelve gates. In 1952 he returned to Sweden and worked from 1953 as coach of Iggesunds IK. From 1955 he worked IFK Eskilstuna. In 1956 he returned as a player for the club on the pitch and played until 1958, 30 other games in the Allsvenskan, go with him two goals. He then went to Kalmar FF in the Division 2, where he worked until 1961. 1962 to 1963 he worked for Finspångs AIK, Södertälje SK 1964, he went to that had been promoted to the Division 2. In 1969 he returned to Hagalund IS, where he worked in the Division 4th In 1971 he finished his career here. He was a multifunctional midfielder, and played on both sides of the field, as well as in the centre. His only prize with Solna was the 1949 Swedish Cup, but he was more successful with the national team. He played played 28 international matches (3 goals) between 1947 and 1950, winning the gold medal in London and reaching third place in the 1950 World Cup. His performance at that tournament earned him a transfer to Italy’s Serie A, with AS Roma. He played there for two seasons, scoring 12 times. He then returned to Sweden, continuing his playing career while also coaching. Andersson remained active on the bench until 1971, but never coached major Swedish teams.
