Lee Dixon is a former right-back. He spent the majority of his career at Arsenal, making 619 appearances from 1988 to 2002, scoring 28 goals. He played also for Burnley, Chester City, Bury and Stoke City. He capped for England 22 times, scoring once.
Dixon was a very good side-back who balanced defence and offense as he was effective in defending as much as he was in attacking. He was a calm and thoughtful player who rarely was out of position, and whenever that happened, he had the ability to quickly go back on his opponent, cover the space and swipe the ball away. His great instinct to push forward combined with the ability to deliver accurate crosses made him dangerous during attacking plays,. Whenever a defender swept his cross away and accidentally sent it back to him, he could make another cross first time with either foot, keeping the threat for the opposing team. Moreover, he was accurate from the penalty spot, from long range, and he was capable of using the outside of the foot.
