Ratko Kacian was striker with a large radius of movement, most often inside right or centre forward, a great playmaker, unselfish in passing and a great shooter. Ratko Kacijan stood out with his smart and fighting game even before the war. Later, the game developed and matured into an extraordinary football player, especially for the system at that time, in which the main burden in both the attack and defense, and especially in the construction of the game, was borne by the inside strikers. His slogan was: "The player thinks, the ball runs." That's why he very skilfully employed his teammates and "long" balls transmitted the game, regularly in a surprising way. He was a footballer with a turbulent, often excessive temperament, so he gave jobs to referees and coaches. However, he showed such a nature only when he was younger and only on the playground. In ordinary life he was the true soul of man. When he matured, he could not be recognized on the playground either. From that player of turbulent temperament, he grew collected a smart football player. The only thing left for him was unbreakable fighting spirit. He started playing at the age of 14 for Primorac from Biograd. In 1937. became the member of the first team in Zagreb HAŠK 's, with which it is 1938. Yugoslavia won the Championship in 1937/08. After this success goes to Split Hajduk, where, because of the attack on the referee, he was disqualified for life. He later had his sentence reduced to two years, and in the end was - pardon. After that, he was exemplary in every respect. From Split back to the HAŠK. In this period he played 10 matches for the national team and scored one goal. Immediately after the establishment of the Zagreb Dinamo became its member in the period 1945 - 1949. played for the "blue" 102 matches and scored seven league goals. Although he was a great football player, he once played for the national team of Yugoslavia. He made ​​his debut in the first international match after World War II , 9th May 1946 . against Czechoslovakia (2-0) in Prague. He was a coach at the HAŠK and the post-war Zagreb Milicionar. He died of inflammation of heart valves in the summer 1949th , after 32 year. At the memory of this great football, youth football schools Dinamo "Hitrec-Kacijan" named Ivan Hitrec and Ratko Kacijan. On Saturday 18th June 1949., when many fans still hoped to be Ratko soon appear on the field, the news that this great athlete died, devastated by the disease.
