INFO

Bruno Pesaola played as attacking midfielder and winger, most known for his excellent dribblings and tricks, great speed and especially good crosses which created tons of goals for Jeppson, Vinicio, Amedei and other strikers. Pesaola had good shot as well and timing to insert himself in opponents box. He was one of three symbols of the champagne football of Achille Lauro who had decided to strengthen his position as mayor of buying and upgrading the Naples football regardless of expense. Pesaola came together with Giancarlo Vitali and (well 105 million then) Swedish ace Hasse Jeppson lavish purchases in a campaign that sent the audience into a frenzy of Naples and was the first case of intertwining between politics and football. The son of a shoemaker Marches and a Portuguese woman who emigrated to Argentina, Pesaola moved to Italy very young and made his debut for Roma in the mid 40s. The adventure of the capital, however, ends with a dramatic fact. Because of the broken tibia and fibula, in fact, during a game against Palermo, Pesaola is forced to leave Rome. After a long convalescence, goes to the football Novara where he disputed two seasons, and finally, moves to Napoli, becoming one of the players symbol of the city where they reside for eight years. From 1952 to 1960 brings joy to the San Paolo with his crosses and his goals to eventually be 27. With Jeppson and Giancarlo Vitali is the third acquisition of a three-pronged offensive to Lauro memorable. Pesaola disputed a contest in the senior national team and six in the National B. As a coach, which becomes a mythological figure, thanks to the ubiquitous camel-hair coat, wins a championship at the helm of Fiorentina in 1969, an Italian Cup with Bologna in 1974 and also an unexpected salvation with Napoli in 1983 alongside Gennaro Rambone . During that season is his famous image that embraces the rosary before a decisive penalty kick by Moreno Ferrario. In 1970 awarded the Golden Sower. Excelled in the interpretation of events, dealing with great clever tactics, admits that in some games, while with one hand was visibly mark the team to move forward with the other ordered to retreat. After a career as a coach, Pesaola becomes columnist for several local and national television broadcasts. On 20 November 2009, the Napoli City Council awarded him an honorary citizen of Napoli.
