INFO:

Max Lorenz is former German player who played mainly for Werder. Very strong all-rounder who was used in many positions in midfield and defence, with a solid technique and surprising dribblings from the back line, had decent passing range and good shot. Very mobile player capable of making good marking job, despite his size and strength he was very elegant in his moves. Max Lorenz grew up in Bremen Hemelingen and there has the whole youth stations and the beginnings of the senior football for SV through Hemelingen. After the rise of the sports association in 1959/60 with the Amateur League Bremen, he accepted the offer of the Oberliga Nord and Werder Bremen became the 1960/61 round of contract players. On the fourth day, the 4th September 1960, he debuted in a 7-1 home success against Bremerhaven 93 in the football league north. Werder finished behind the series champion Hamburger SV into second place and Lawrence had done it six goals in 24 games with his contribution. His first game in the final round of the German football championship saw Lawrence on 20 May 1961 when the first game against FC Cologne. The game ended 1-1 in the cathedral city on the Rhine and the Bremen were to attack the occupation Günter Wilmovius, Arnold Schuetz, Lorenz, Klaus Hänel Horst Barth and begun it. In the last two years of the old system of first-class league man failed for Hemelingen with the Green-Whites of the Weser River in each of the qualifying matches before the final round. 1962 in Hanover and Schalke 04 in front of 60,000 spectators with a 1:4 defeat after extra time, and in 1963 by a 1-2 defeat against the first FC Nuremberg before 58 000 spectators in Ludwigshafen. In the DFB Cup in 1961, Lorenz in the matches against the first FC Saarbrücken, 1 FC Cologne and at the gates with a 3-2 semifinal victory after extra 23rd August 1961 Karlsruher SC against participated. For the final, on 13 September 1961 in Gelsenkirchen against 1 FC Kaiserslautern, he was missing it. Lorenz, both feet of mostly usable Lorenz was used as an external rotor collected, even with Werder 1961/62 Cup Winners Cup in the international experience when he played in all four games against Atletico Madrid and Aarhus GF. Overall, the athletic all-rounder in the Oberliga Nord graduated from 1960 to 1963 74 league games and scored eleven goals. As the Bundesliga 1963/64 with the Round of 24 August was opened in 1963, Lorenz was together with Klaus Lambertz goalkeeper and field players Josef Piontek, Wolfgang Bordel, Helmut Schütz Jagielski and Arnold the defensive formation of Werder's 3-2 home win against Borussia Dortmund. With new coach Willi Multhaup occupied the Bremen in the debut year 1963/64 with 28:32 points in tenth place in the field of the 16 founding members of the League at that time. As in the second Bundesliga SV Werder year 1964/65, the favored defending champion first FC Cologne was able to point with three points ahead of second place, Max Lorenz completed 27 missions with two goals in winning the title of Bremen. Lorenz learned personally through his international debut on 24 April 1965 at the World Cup qualifier against Cyprus in Karlsruhe in the spring of the championship round of a recognition of his performance at Werder Bremen. As defending champions, but coach Multhaup was changed to Borussia Dortmund, Bremen reached the fourth in 1966. In the European Cup champion had been defeated without difficulty Apoel Nicosia, but was then failed in the Yugoslav champions FK Partizan Belgrade. Belgrade lost in Lawrence with his teammates 0:3, so the 1-0 home win on 17 November 1965 could no longer manage the next round. Two years after winning the title at the Weser almost followed the crash in the regional league, just on the 16th In 1967, the rank could be avoided relegation. Under coach Fritz Lawrence Langner and colleagues in 1968 broke again in the front ranks could table and be feted as a runner. After the fall 1969 to ninth - his last league game for Bremen, he completed on 7 June 1969 at the 6-5 home win over Borussia Moenchengladbach - said goodbye to Lawrence after 176 Bundesliga appearances with 15 goals for Bremen and joined Eintracht Braunschweig. Before last year by coach Helmuth Johannsen, 1969/70, Lorenz was changed to DM 400,000 transfer to the Bundesliga champions in 1967. The former "fringe zone" at the Hamburger Strasse Lorenz experienced in the 1969/70 round of the concord but no success, just on the 16th Rank standing Brunswick escaped with difficulty from relegation. The man from Bremen, had completed 33 Bundesliga games and the defense had conceded in 34 league games 49 goals. The league was a good value, but only just 40 goals scored were clearly not enough, more like just the league to play. Germany coach Helmut Schön took the all-rounder and a "life of the party first grade" estimated Lorenz anyway after the World Cup with Mexico in 1970. In his third year of harmony, 1971/72, Lorenz was the first to the fourteenth Match for the harmony on the pitch before he was blocked by the consequences of the "Bundesliga scandal" - due on the fifth home game 1-1 June 1971 against RW Oberhausen, where promised by a third party an additional prize money and also was partly paid - and no longer able to deny another league game. His last league game dated 6 November 1971, played as a 1:1 draw at Braunschweig Rot-Weiss Oberhausen and points with 13:15 on the 11th Place standing. A total of its balance sheet is in the Bundesliga from 1963 to 1972 to 247 missions with 18 league goals. On 24 April 1965, when World Cup qualifying game against Cyprus in Karlsruhe, Lawrence made his debut in the 5-0 success in the German national soccer team. Germany coach Helmut Schön trusted in the number of runners on Willi Schulz, Klaus-Dieter Sieloff and the man from Werder Bremen. He belonged to the player squad for the World Cup in England in 1966, but was not in the tournament are used. On at the two historic "first" victories against England (1-0 in Hanover) and Brazil (2-1 in Stuttgart) 1 or 16th June 1968 he was a member of the German defensive team. When the DFB-Elf on 21 May 1969 in Essen outclassed by 12-0 goals in World Cup qualifier against Cyprus, Lawrence scored his only goal in national team's colors. At the end of his international career, he participated in his second World Cup tournament. He belonged to the 22er squad of DFB for the World Cup in Mexico in 1970. On 20 June 1970 he was in the match for third place against Uruguay (1-0) in the 46th Minute for Karl-Heinz Schnellinger off the bench and completed to his 19th International match.
