INFO

Mahi is former Algerian striker. He was centre forward mainly and also right winger in the beginning. Very dynamic and elegant but also strong and athletic, two footed with excellent aerial game. Had good shot and technique, very endurable and explosive, fast with inexhaustible breath. Having started playing in the streets of his hometown of Mascara, Mahi Khennane (which will soon become "Mahi", or by mistake "Khennane Mahi" during his career) takes its first license in Gallia Club Mascara, one of two clubs in his life. Quickly, his qualities are obvious to his coaches, and Mahi is outclassed until first team. In 1956, advised by its president - who had studied pharmacy in the capital of Brittany - Mahi landed at Rennes. Again, the young Algerian striker is little time to convince the world. After a first season spent on the right wing, he was promoted to center-forward by Henri Guerin holder during the 1957-1958 season. In Rennes, Mahi explodes, threading the goals as beads (about 90, which makes him at the time the second leading scorer in club history). Performance which open the doors of the France team, and enable it to obtain the title of best French player of the year 1961. In 1962, eager to finally see something else after six years in Britain, Mahi sign in Toulouse, where his goalscoring qualities are not denied (22 goals in 1962-1963). In the process, it also makes a few appearances as a team of Algeria, representing his country which has just become independent. Unfortunately, his career then followed a downward path. After brief passages in Nimes, then to Red Star in Lorient, Mahi returned to Algeria in 1968 to regain the jersey GC Mascara. Having spent - and brilliantly achieved - his qualifications as a coach, he became player-manager. Following his career to summarize go back and forth between his native Algeria and Britain, which adopted it. Player-coach, he is also in Saint-Malo and the Cormorants Penmarc'h before returning invariably to Mascara, which he offers his only championship in Algeria in 1984. Now, Mahi lives in Brittany, and is a faithful viewer of the stage road to Lorient.
