INFO:'Frank' Hudspeth is one of the finest full-backs in the Magpies’ history. With nineteen years at Newcastle, from 1910 to 1929, he is the second joint longest servant for the club along with his club colleague Billy McCracken. During the partnership with McCracken, they created the infamous offside trap that would later force a change in the offside rules. The nickname 'Old Surefoot' was given due to his reliability during his time at the club.
He was the club's captain from 1923 to 1926, before demoted to vice-captain following Hughie Gallacher’s arrival at the club. The tough-tackling full-back was also famous for his penalty-taking ability with twenty-five of his thirty-seven goals for Newcastle came from the penalty spot. Beside, he was also a freekick specialist with his ponderous kick.
Hudspeth was also capped once for England NT, against Ireland, on 24 October 1925.
