INFO:Fossati was a half back in the center even though he was a full back before debuting in Inter's first team. He spent his entire career with the
Nerazzurri, making 97 appearances from 1909 to 1915, scoring 4 goals. He was called up for Italy 12 times, scoring once, becoming Inter's first ever player to wear the
Azzurri's jersey. He tragically died in 1916 as a soldier during the First World War.
Inter's first iconic player and team's second ever captain ─ role he filled from 1909 to 1915 ─ Fossati was an elegant and intelligent playmaker, probably focused mainly on the attack despite his defensive position thanks to his great vision of the game. Nonetheless, he was very good in the defence too as he possessed qualities like anticipation, interception ability and excellent positioning that made up for his lack of strength as he was tall but thin. He didn't wait for the ball nor the opponent. He sensed where the ball was heading, followed his opponent and either took the ball from him or intercepted it.
