While I don't have time to update the team in general, I have a suggestion for the first team here: GOALKEEPERS: Joseph-Antoine BELL
Thomas N'KONO
Bruce GROBBELAARDEFENDERS: Mustapha ZITOUNI
Stephen KESHI
Noureddine NAYBET
LAUREN
Taye TAIWO
Medhi BENATIA
Kwadwo ASAMOAH
Kalidou KOULIBALY
Achraf HAKIMI=> Original team lacked SBs, I added two for each side + five CBs. LB position is clearly the "worst", those two might be the best since other alternatives (Ghoulam, Boka, Bedimo, Babayaro) aren't much better. Bensebaini might be a possible choice in the future if his performances stay on the current level at his new club (probably BVB). Koulibaly needs no explanation, Benatia is debatable and could of course be replaced by Kuffour, Djené, Kundé or Radebe. MIDFIELDERS: Paul BONGA BONGA
Théophile ABEGA
Tarak DHIAB
Lakhdar BELLOUMI
Abedi PELE
Jay-Jay OKOCHA
Michael ESSIEN
Seydou KEITA
Yaya TOURÉ
Riyad MAHREZ=> I tried to balance this team a bit by adding Yaya Touré, Bonga Bonga (whose absence was IMO the biggest mistake of this team) and Keita. Maybe Oliseh would be a good choice here to have a DMF as well. Mahrez needs no explanation of course. FORWARDS: Rachid MEKHLOUFI
Salif KEÏTA
Roger MILLA
Rabah MADJER
George WEAH
Didier DROGBA
Samuel ETO'O
Pierre-Emerick AUBAMEYANG
Sadio MANÉ
Mohamed SALAH=> The biggest strength of this team. I added Mekhloufi, Salah, Mané and Auba since they all are/were top players in Europe's biggest leagues for a long time, something that doesn't apply for Yekini, Odegbami, Al-Khatib and Kofi. Formation should be something like this IMO:

Doctor Khumalo and Patrick Ntsoelengoe would also be great South African additions

Joël Matip as well, even if he's occasionally fooling around, he has been around for more than a decade at European top level.

I would possibly throw in John Obi Mikel also but there are limited spaces in the reserves

What standard we use? Performance in NT? Player level/career? Importance for African football?

What "importance for African football" means?
I mean... considering the NT aspect is already cover, nowadays no African player has any importance for the football of their continent.

He might mean how important a player was for the African football movement worldwide. There are players who were considered among the best in Africa. Fernando Lage, for example, was even considered better than Eusébio by Eusébio himself. That, of course, in Mozambique. As big as Lage was in Africa, he never cared about playing in Europe despite having some offers. He's a pioneer of Mozambican football but he surely didn't contribute in making African football important worldwide, unlike Grobbelaar, Madjer, Weah, Eto'o, Drogba, Salah, to name a few.

Pretty tough job though but actually very interesting. The reason I questioned it is because I realize the efforts of you guys creating Asia and Africa teams and went back to check the South America one and it seemed so much confusing in terms of criterias that were used. EDIT: I thought it was about win titles for an African team, like the CAF Champions League.

I don't recall, for example, any of the players selected for the first team by gurkenjoe93 as multiple CAF Champions League winners. Still, his selection is definitely accurate. It's not easy to make a satisfying continental all stars team unless you add 100-200 players. I tried to give a spot to more countries for my Asian All Stars team but there are players who just can't be left out.

I guess you mean additional, not accidental About the competition itself: I have nothing against it. Abega won it twice and also Mahmoud El Khatib/Cherif Souleymane/Mohamed Aboutrika would have been valid choices here as both great players and multiple CAF Champions league winners but tbh still rank other players higher that showed their class on the European top level. Btw, maybe you could post a suggestion for reserves, then we could discuss it here.

Yeah, I think "additional" should've been be the word. Anyway, this is my selection for the reserves and I'm aware that several players may be debatable:
