Biondini is a former central midfielder, capable of playing as side or defensive midfielder and more rarely as wing back. He had his best time at Cagliari, where he made 184 appearances from 2006 to January 2012, scoring 7 goals. He also had good seasons at Sassuolo from 2014 to 2018. He played also for Cesena, Vicenza, Reggina, Genoa and Atalanta. He retired in 2019. He capped for Italy twice in 2009.
Biondini was a hardworking box-to-box midfielder of quantity and quality. He wasn't too fast but ran a lot in the middle of the field as well as up and down the sides thanks to excellent stamina. He had good ball distribution as he could deliver accurate short passes even first time, crosses from the side or long balls from the back. He occasionally showed glimpses of technique with fine dribbling or touches with the outside. He didn't score many goals but could be a decent finisher, sometimes shooting from outside the box, sometimes finding the right time to get in the box to receive the ball or make a tap in.
