I'm open to suggestions on this one. Watching David play was always a guilty pleasure for me. Overall, watching him again made me change my mind a bit on his style of play.
I used to agree with a friend of mine that nicknamed him "Luis Pereira of the poor", because David was very eager to attack but seemed unable to defend as a proper CB.
To be honest, David had a lot of flair, easily carrying the ball up the field, delivering high quality long passes and even being quite a threat from distance. But when the matter was defending, he became highly inconsistent, sometimes screwing up basic positioning and man-marking, while on other times he managed to deliver very precise blocks, tackles and clearances.

Updated.

To try and create something more accurate for David Luiz, I chose to compare his skills with those of Júnior Baiano, and balance the stats around using Nakayama's set for him as a standpoint. Here's my review of him:

Spoiler: show
I believe Júnior Baiano wasn't as offensive as David, as he was much more of a CB with good technique rather than an overlapping CWP kind of player. His defending was better, which makes me think that David's DEF might be somewhere between 75-80. For RES, I'd give David a value between 73-77.

That said, from what I've seen of Luiz with the NT and Chelsea, I believe his TS and ACC were better than those of Jr. Baiano. David was a bit more of a dribbler than Baiano.

About SPA/LPA, David was clearly a better passer. About FKs and shooting, David had a very exquisite way of delivering shots, but Jr. Baiano was more of a bomber, more dangerous as he got closer to the goal. That's why I'd keep David at SA 70, ST 74-75 , FKA 81 and CUR 75-76.

I'm not sure of how much AGG I should give David. Maybe somewhere between 72-77.

About teamwork, I chose to go with a lower value for David because often, at dying stages of matches, when the team desperately needed a goal, he'd take matters into his own hands and completely ignore the rest of the team's positioning, driving up the field and blasting long passes anywhere he basically wanted.

I don't know if you guys will agree with me on this one. I'm having a real hard time rating David Luiz, so I'm open to any suggestions.

Konami took him to another level with his PES 2014/Winning Eleven 2014 World Cup default set, only Lúcio (PES 2011) and Thiago Silva (PES 2012-2013-2014) were better than him among the Brazilians CBs, would say more than Lúcio because of the strong technique he had for a CB

Im not good on doing pes stats but I followed Junior Baiano's carrer.

Here is my thoughts about this comparasion:

Junior Baiano was more technical but less agile than David Luiz.

Junior Baiano was stronger but less tactical and inteligent on the field. Eventough I believe David Luiz is not tactical at all.

David Luiz was better on "ball wining disputes/response" than Baiano.

Baiano free kicks were better but David Luiz long passes were better.

David Luiz was faster.

Baiano and David Luiz were more or less egual on air balls.

David Luiz was more intense and had more mobility than Baiano. Also, more willing to attack.

Overall David were a better player comparing both primes.

Updated the first set, and added a 2nd set for Flamengo.

Maybe Bola Clássica could comment a bit on it, but the way I see it, David has had a very deep impact on the team's form. He is probably one of the best passers of the Brasileirão, and he has a very particular way of controlling the game from the D-Line. He is always on the spot, playing closer to the youngsters of the squad, helping them improve their positioning.

He is not very good against speedsters, but his 1-on-1 has gotten better with Léo Pereira alongside him, taking turns between challenging the opposite strikers or covering their runs.

His WFF has improved also, he seems to be using his left foot for passing and shooting a bit more often.

His TW and MEN have gotten better, he does not overlap senselessly, and he is much more aware of his teammates than before, also managing his efforts to fight until the end.

PS: I'm going to start posting stuff on aussie players later this week. Sorry for taking so long.

Konami gave him for many of his Chelsea sets the SB role, does he deserve it?

I don’t remember him playing as an SB even once for Chelsea. According to Transfermarkt he played 75 minutes as a right back in the 11/12 season and that’s it.

Don't think so, it seems like he barely played SB after leaving Benfica.
