Born on October 31, 1964 in Sofia. Footballer № 1 in Bulgaria for 1987. He graduated from the prestigious coaching school in Coverciano (Italy). He played as a defender in Levski, Bologna (Italy), Hertha Berlin (Berlin, Germany), Rennes (France). The first Bulgarian footballer in the Italian Calcio. Champion of Bulgaria in 1984, 1985, 1988 and 1993. Winner of the national cup in 1984 and 1986. In total Iliev collected 196 matches and 25 goals in "A" group. For Levski played 40 matches and has scored 7 goals in the Cup and 19 matches with 2 goals in European tournaments (6 games and 2 goals in European Cup, 9 games for the SSC and 4 games for the UEFA Cup). For the national team played 53 matches and has scored 5 goals. The defender scored a goal in ten games for Hertha, ending with Hertha third. Iliew began his career in 1983 at Levski Sofia. After six years he moved to FC Bologna 1986, before he came in 1991 to Hertha BSC. After his return to Levski Sofia, he played a season for the club from the Bulgarian capital. The last stop of his playing days was Stade Rennes, where he finished his career after the 1994-95 season.
