Mannan is a former centre back. He spent the majority of his career at Rewa, where he played from 1978 to 1985, including five seasons as captain, and from 1993 to his retirement in 1998. He played also in Australia for Juventus SC from 1985 to 1990. A Fiji international player from 1979 to 1985, he was chosen as national team captain when he was only 19 years old and filled the role from 1980 to 1983. He capped for Fiji numerous times, including in eight 1982 World Cup qualifiers ─ always as captain ─ and at the 1983 South Pacific Games.
Considered one of the best players in Fiji history, Mannan wasn't only a commanding centre back of high defensive qualities. He possessed an eagle eye vision that allowed him to expose even the strongest defensive tactics of the opposing team. He was a born leader thanks to his experience, personality, work rate and commitment. Surprisingly gifted from an acrobatic standpoint, he used to save goals with bicycle kicks. While he was a defensive minded player, he was a good free kick taker.
