Rasmus Bengtsson was a Swedish defender with a firm and disciplined style who built a solid career in Scandinavian and European football, with a notable stint at FC Twente, where he was part of one of the Dutch club's most successful and competitive periods. Before that, he had gained some notoriety at Trelleborgs FF and Hertha Berlin, but it was at Twente, from 2010 onwards, that he found greater stability and international visibility.
At the Enschede club, Bengtsson stood out for his good physical imposition and efficient aerial game, being the type of defender who didn't mess around with the ball in defense and sent it forward straight away, with relative quality. He participated in the Dutch Cup (2010–11) and Super Cup victories, in addition to playing in European competitions frequently, being a reliable backup for Wisgerhof and Douglas, always contributing with his defensive consistency and without compromising most of the time.
Despite not being a high-profile defender, Bengtsson became a regular at Twente at the end of the 2012/13 season and the beginning of 2013/14, forming a scandinavian strong central defensive partnership with the dane Andreas Bjelland, even captaining the team on a few occasions and receiving call-ups to the Swedish national team, representing the country in four games. He later returned to Swedish football, where he ended his career at Malmö FF, winning three national titles and assuming a leadership role in the squad.
