INFO:
Amiesimaka is a former winger or side midfielder who primarily played on the left but was comfortable on the right too. He spent the majority of his career at Rangers International of Enugu where he started playing in the late 1970s. He also played for Rivers United and African Continental Bank, always in his native country. He capped for Nigeria 39 times between 1977 and 1981, scoring 5 goals.
An exciting attacking winger, Amiesimaka distinguished himself for his outstanding pace on and off the ball, intelligence, and glorious dribbling runs that made him hard to stop for opposing defenders. His speed and technical qualities set him apart in a team that already had talented players like Odegbami, Lawal and Chukwu, among others. Amiesimaka could run down the wing, usually the left, get past one or two opponents with short bursts, and attempt a cross to the box. He was like a playmaker on the wing. And as he wasn't exactly a prolific scorer, he more rarely cut inside to attempt the shot or moved to the box off the ball. Given that he could play in midfield too, even as a winger he would often fall back in midfield or even in defence from where he would set up an attack or start his trademark run. His style of play was similar to that of his successor Amunike, but while Amunike was a better scorer, Amiesimaka had better finesse, composure on the ball, dribbling and crossing abilities.
