Finidi George is a former right-winger. His career started in 1989 in his native country Nigeria. He played for Calabar Rovers, Iwanyanwu Nationale, and Sharks FC before transferring to Europe in 1993. He played for Ajax until 1996, making 122 appearances and scoring 24 goals. He then had an excellent four-year spell in Spain at Real Betis where he scored 44 goals in 152 games. He retired in 2004 following underwhelming experiences with Mallorca and Ipswich Town. He capped for Nigeria 62 times, scoring 6 goals.
Finidi was a tall, physically strong and technical winger who possessed excellent dribbling, ball control and pace off the ball. He was less quick over short distances or on the ball, but he could still get past many opponents. He had a solid ball distribution but his crosses weren't consistently accurate, though he often attempted to provide his teammates in the box with a high long ball. He was a decent set piece taker, usually in charge of corner kicks and less frequently of free kicks. He wasn't a prolific striker, especially during his time at Ajax, but he tried to be a threat from time to time thanks to his shots packed with good power. His performances weren't always good as he alternated between matches where he was constantly active and others where he would barely be a threat.
He seemingly was a better played at Real Betis as he was more mature, possessed a better ball distribution overall as well as a more accurate shot which was also packed with notable power. He was more aggressive from an attacking perspective as he often positioned himself inside the box to receive the ball and attempt the shot. Furthermore, he was more prone to help in midfield and defence, showing solid response and a good ball recovering ability.
