INFO:M'Bono is a former centre-forward. His career started in 1960 at Caïman Brazzaville. He transferred to Dragons Pointe-Noire in 1962. One year later, he eventually joined Étoile du Congo where he spent the rest of his career until the mid 1970s. He represented Congo from 1968 to 1975, scoring at least 11 goals, including 2 in the final of the successful 1972 Africa Cup of Nations.
An icon of Congolese football, M'Bono was short but powerful and nicknamed
Sorcier (english for "wizard") mostly for his ability to hit the back of the net by shooting from any positions, even difficult ones. The ease with which he could score made him a terror for opposing defences. He scored two of Congo's three goals in the 1972 African Cup final after coming in as substitute in the second half of the match. The first goal was in a one-on-one situation against the goalkeeper. The second goal was a powerful first time strike with the outside of the right foot. M'Bono showed solid technique and aggressiveness during the last 45 minutes, enough to help Congo win the game and the competition.
