Defence-MindedINFO:Joey Jones was a legendary Welsh footballer. He's best known for his time at Liverpool where he won 2 European Cups and became a cult hero, but he's also known as arguably Wrexham's greatest ever player. He also had a long career with the Welsh national team. Joey was a very tough and tenacious fullback, mostly focused on shutting down wingers with tight marking and heavy tackles. He had solid pace and strength, and was good in the air. He always went into tackles with full force, intimidating the opposition and earning the love of the fans everywhere he went. On the other hand he wasn't the most refined in possession, he rarely went forward and often preferred to get rid of the ball rather than try to build the game. But he made up for this with his commitment and aggression. This made him a useful player for Liverpool in tough games, and matched perfectly with the Welsh national team. Wales were a difficult team to beat in the late 70s and early 80s, only missing out on qualification by very small margins several times in a row. Joey was one of the best representations of the team's style at that time. For this reason, he's considered a legend of the national team.
