Giuseppe Wilson was a sweeper and centre-back. He spent most of his career at Lazio from 1969 to 1980 − without counting the 1978 season at New York Cosmos − playing 394 matches and scoring 8 goals. He had a great form during his whole time at Lazio, missing only 7 league games until 1979 and no league match between 1971 and 1975. He capped 3 times for Italy.
Wilson was one of the best Italian defenders during the 1970s and he's regarded by Lazio's fans as their second greatest defender behind Alessandro Nesta. The leader of the defence, he was gifted with good speed and great temperament, didn't have high class nor a huge physique but was good at covering, had oustanding reaction, was incredible in the air and all the high balls were his. His timing was also proved by his very accurate sliding tackles when he sprinted towards the opponent and took the ball away from him. Then Wilson could easily leave the defence with the ball on his feet and set up the action.
