Vittorio Pusceddu was elected as the best left back in the history of Cagliari Calcio by a large margin. Can anyone make stats of him please? info: http://www.cagliaricalcio.com/SpecialeTop11

Hi everyone! I think the second goalkeeper should be Ielpo instead of Marchetti. Marchetti has been great in Cagliari and he had some caps with Italy NT during his period with the Sardinian team. However Ielpo played over 200 matches with Cagliari including the 1992-93 season when the team finished the Serie A season at 6th place qualifying for the next year UEFA Cup. Daniele Conti must be in the first team because he is the player with most caps and in my opinion he could take the place of Uribe. Vittorio Pusceddu played for Cagliari over 100 matches and he is considered one of the best left back the team has ever had. He should take the place of Pancaro. I don't see him in the reserve team neither... At last Joe Bizera shouldn't be in the team at all. He was a really really bad player who played only 40 matches in three years between Serie A and Coppa Italia.

Does Robert Winkler really deserve a place? José Herrera was mostly midfielder then defender. Antonio Langella may be added to the reserves. Franco Selvaggi won the 1982 World Cup while playing for Cagliari. He may replace Roberto Boninsegna in my opinion. Antonio Congiu was a winger forward and not a midfielder.

Selvaggi didn't play a minute in that WC and even if he would have played all matches + scored the most goals in that tournament, I wouldn't consider this as a relevant criteria for a Club AS team. Selvaggi and Boninsegna have almost similar stats at Cagliari (85 matches with 28 goals vs 83 matches with 23 goals) but if I compare their individual quality, "Bonimba" was definitely better than Selvaggi. Therefore I'd keep Boninsegna in first team here..

And I would add also Daniel Fonseca in reserves as he spent two of his best years in Cagliari.

I'm sure that Leonardo Pavoletti deserves a spot in reserves. He had two excellent seasons upon his arrival in Cagliari and earned a cap for Italy. He then missed an entire season due to injury but came back and still gave his contribution despite scoring much less. He stayed at Cagliari in Serie B and scored the decisive goal for the promotion. What else do we need?

Francesco Pisano was no world-beater, but definitely deserves to be on the bench: - Cagliari hometown boy, played for the Cagliari youth team (1997-2005) before playing for the first team
- played 11 full seasons for Cagliari (2004-2015)
- returned as a youth coach for Cagliari in 2022
- in top 20 of Cagliari's most capped players (247 appearances)
- became Cagliari's youngest captain ever in 2009 at the age of 22, although that was not a permanent thing
- wide stretches of his career were as a substitiute player, he did play in the starting XI consistently in 2008-09, 2011-12 and 2013-14, before a serious injury (fibula fracture) stopped him in his tracks; played two more seasons as a substitute before Cagliari was relegated to Serie B and he faded into obscurity
