Legendary Atletico striker, regarded as the best ever club striker. He was centre forward and also played as left winger, real team player, technically gifted with excellent dribbling, good pace and intelligent positioning in the box. He was very good in heading and fast, especially on the ball. Very active without the ball, could pass the ball well but injuries ruined his carrer. Born in 1944 in Sarandi, Buenos Aires (Argentina) so circumstantial. His grandfather was Republican Mayor Eibar and was exiled to Argentina following the Spanish Civil War and José Eulogio Garate was born during a visit to his parents performed his grandparents exiles. His international debut came on October 22, 1967 in the match Spain 2-1 Czechoslovakia, with coach Sunday Balmanya, scoring the second goal Garate of Spain. Garate played eighteen matches for his country, sixteen of them with Ladislao Kubala on the bench, scoring a total of five goals.
