INFOS:A true legend in Boca fans' heart. The fear of the opponent players. Vicente Pernía was a warrior who gave everything he had on the pitch, the personification of la "garra". A very hard-tackling, tough and old-fashioned defender. His prior task was to stop the opponent winger (to quote him: "O pasa la pelota o pasa el jugador, pero los dos juntos no") and then occasionaly support the attack line, long cut back assists were his trademark when moving forward. His temper sometimes worked against him as he is Boca's all time (so far) red card recorman (he was sent off 13 times while playing for the Xeneizes). The same temper might have prevented him from taking part to the 1978 WC, as Menotti decided to trust Olguín (who was'nt even a SB if I'm not mistaken) instead of him. Though Pernía was considered by far to be the best right back in the country in that time.
He played 269 games for Boca and scored 10 times.
He formed a very complementary side back line with the offensive-minded Córdoba in the 81 campain.
