Faccenda was a sweeper and centre back. His professional career started at Latina in 1979. He played 172 matches for Genoa in Serie A and B between 1981 and 1987, scoring 7 goals. Genoa's fans remember him especially for a goal he scored during the last match of the 1981-82 Serie A that saved the team from relegation. Then he joined Pisa with which he played 103 games between 1986 and 1989 and scored 4 goals. With Pisa he showed his ductility playing also as full back. He's remembered very well by Pisa's supporters mostly for having saved the club from the relegation to Serie B when he scored two goals in the 2-0 win against Torino: both with fantastic headings, as he used to do often, thanks also to his great elevation. He eventually transferred to Fiorentina where he probably had his best years playing 143 matches between 1989 and 1994, scoring again 4 goals. He retired in 1995 after a season with Carrarese. Faccenda was a reliable defender, not technically gifted but with good feet, in fact he didn't lose the chance to attack and look for a goal opportunity. He had great temperament, determination and sometimes too much aggressiveness that caused him many sanctions. Able at sealing spaces for his opponents, he also participated to the offensive actions, taking the ball forward through the centre. Pisa 2-0 Torino
