On his beloved left flank Meskhi acted virtuously. The fans went crazy with his unpredictable dribbling. In the early 60's at matches with the "Dinamo" Tbilisi the audience preferred to sit not in the center, but closer to the corner flag where Meskhi played - to better discern his technical tricks. During the break, the fans together rushed to the diagonally opposite podium, in order to prolong the pleasure. A small, dense, even somewhat heavy-handed striker could easily "twist" one or two defenders. And the "family feint" was just one of the trump cards in his richest arsenal of deceptive techniques.
For fantastic technique Meskhi forgave everything - even that during the match he could take a break and, standing at the edge of the crook, wait for the moment when the ball hits him. But entertainment and result are not always able to go in one harness. Already after the World Cup in 1962, when the team left Gavriil Dmitrievich Kachalin, Meskhi had problems with getting into the national team. The Georgian striker has repeatedly been told to go back to his half of the field, help his partners, taking part in defensive actions. Meskhi did not really know how, so it was hard for him to compete with Galimzyan Khusainov.
July 26, 1969, Mikhail Meskhi arranged a farewell in a friendly match "Dinamo" with the Uruguayan "Nacional". According to the scenario, the left winger had to play the first half, and he did it brilliantly. When in the break the "Dinamo" footballers raised Meskhi in their hands and under the ovation of the public made a circle of honor, the coach of the guests decided that in the USSR it is accepted to welcome so best players. When he was told what was wrong, he spread his hands in bewilderment: "How?" He leaves, but these remain? "... In 1970, Mikhail Meskhi hung his boots on a nail.
