INFO:Mandorlini is a former defensive midfielder or sweeper, capable of playing also as side and centre back. He had his best time at Inter, where he made 275 appearances from 1984 to 1991, scoring 13 times. He played also for Torino, Atalanta, Ascoli and Udinese, where he retired in 1993. He never capped for Italy despite his consistent performance, not even when Inter coach Trapattoni initially preferred him to Daniel Passarella, who wasn't in good form.
Mandorlini was a very good defensive player, gifted with strength, fine speed, anticipation and the ability to cover the space. He still pushed forward quite a lot with the ball to deliver good crosses or attempt the long range shot, without the ball to wait in the box for the ball to head in. He possessed great determination, showing effort especially in less usual positions. He was left-footed but was able with the right too.
