INFO:Catelli was a right back. He played for Lucchese from 1941 to 1946 and from 1949 to 1956, year of his retirement, for a total of 102 matches and 3 goals. He had his best time at Empoli in Serie B, making 106 appearances from 1946 to 1949, always as regular starter and at high level.
A defensive full-back, his main task was tackling the opponents and he didn't have style or technique with the ball on his feet. However, he had iron lungs, uncommon courage and determination, extraordinary speed and good athletic qualities, thanks to which he could push forward whenever he was asked to.
There's an anecdote regarding Catelli during his second spell at Lucchese: a match against Pistoiese was interrupted after a quarter-hour because Pistoiese's supporters invaded the field and almost killed the referee who didn't give a penalty to their team; Catelli managed to rescue him in time before he was pressed to death with the steamroller used to smooth the field; the referee recovered in two months and he's always been grateful to Catelli.
